“So the album leaked and you all actually waited until the proper release time so you all can enjoy it together,” Beyoncé wrote in a statement just minutes before RENAISSANCE was made available on U.S. digital streaming platforms.

Six years after the surprise release of LEMONADE, Bey welcomed in her new era with her seventh studio album. RENAISSANCE appears to lead with a traditional rollout and intentional listening experience before blessing fans with a visual component.

Bey and her Parkwood team have confirmed that visuals will be coming at “a later date.” It’s also been revealed that RENAISSANCE was created over the past three years “during a time to be still and a time [she] found to be the most creative.” Furthermore, the LP is a testament to the singer getting deep in her creative bag.

Earlier on the eve of the release, Bey also shared a personal note about the album, including the fact that this is Act one of a three-part project. Not only was the album dedicated to her children, husband/muse, and the “pioneers who originate culture,” it also was an ode to her uncle, Jonny.

“He was my godmother and the first person to expose me to a lot of the music and culture that serve as inspiration for this album,” she wrote in the message on her official website.

In regards to the leak, she added, “I’ve never seen anything like it. I can’t thank y’all enough for your love and protection.” She also thanked her relentless Hive for “calling out anyone that was trying to sneak into [Club Renaissance] early.”

For those who’ve been patient, “let the renaissance begin.”
